Why PMU Aftercare Matters?

Permanent makeup involves the use of tiny needles depositing pigment into the skin, which requires a gentle healing process. How you care for your brows in the days and weeks following your appointment directly impacts color retention, shape, and overall outcome.

By following this aftercare guide, you can expect:

  • Longer-lasting pigment retention
  • Even, balanced healing
  • Minimal fading or patchiness
  • A smoother touch-up experience

What to Expect After Your PMU Appointment?

Days 1–3: The treated area will be darker or bolder than expected. Swelling or slight redness is normal.

Days 4–7: Light scabbing or flaking can occur—this is part of the natural healing process.

Days 7–14: The color will begin to soften and settle.

Weeks 4–6: Your healed results will become more visible. A touch-up session is usually recommended to perfect the shape and color.

General PMU Aftercare Instructions

Keep the area clean and dry for at least 7–10 days.

Gently cleanse with lukewarm water and a fragrance-free cleanser once daily—no scrubbing.

Apply a thin layer of the recommended healing balm if instructed.

Avoid touching, scratching, or picking at the treated area.

Sleep on a clean pillowcase and avoid sleeping directly on your face.

Wear a wide-brim hat if you’re going outside—no direct sun exposure.

Avoid heavy sweating, saunas, swimming, or steam rooms for at least 10 days.

No makeup, exfoliants, or active skincare products on the treated area during healing.

Avoid brow pencils or any makeup for 10 days.

Trust the Healing Process

It’s completely normal for the color to fade and then reappear as your skin regenerates. Don’t be alarmed by any fading, flaking, or unevenness in the first few weeks—that’s why we schedule a follow-up session. During this touch-up, we perfect the shape, fill in any soft spots, and ensure your final result is balanced and beautiful.

Healing looks a little different for everyone. If you ever have a question or something doesn’t feel quite right, we’re here for you. Text or call the studio, and we’ll walk you through it.

Long-term Maintenance:

Once your permanent makeup has fully healed, maintaining the shape and refinement of your brows is essential. Scheduling monthly waxing or threading keeps your brows clean, enhances your PMU results, and preserves the balanced structure of your brows. Reserve your monthly visit to keep your brows beautifully defined.

For long-term results, plan to refresh your PMU every 18–24 months. Touch-ups help restore pigment, refine definition, and maintain the soft, natural finish you originally fell in love with. This routine renewal keeps your brows looking vibrant and balanced, ensuring your investment continues to age beautifully over time.
